Dwarf Irises

Iris reticulata is one of the very first irises to bloom in a year. It is a dwarf, bulbous type of iris with narrow leaves. It is native to Iran and Caucasus, but widely cultivated and spread in the temperate zone.
I have them in my rock garden and under the hydrangeas where they started popping out through the ivy groundcover.
